History & Vision
As a pioneer in the human services industry, REM opened in 1967 with its first community living residence for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The organization quickly grew from its roots in Minnesota to a multi-state provider offering a wide range of services and supports, including host homes, group homes and vocational services.
Since its founding, REM has been a driving force in the creation of community-based programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and has developed a coordinated network of services and supports throughout the country. Our experience provides us with the resources to continue in a leadership role as new options are made available to people who have challenging needs.
The MENTOR Network
In 2003, REM partnered with The MENTOR Network, a national network of local human service providers. With more than 60 years of combined experience, The MENTOR Network and REM joined to offer an even greater array of person-centered options for the people we serve. Together, we deliver some of the most responsive and creative human services in the country.
We are a nationwide team of professionals committed to helping every person thrive in a community setting through innovative, flexible programs and services. As we continue to grow, our commitment to the individuals we serve remains our top priority.
